Interoperability for transportation operations

The OpenSky radio network provides integration of data messaging with trunked digital voice on the same RF channel. Integrated voice and data over Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) quadruples call capacity by allowing four simultaneous voice calls per 25 kHz channel.
The P25IP network provides an excellent fit for those agencies which have lower user densities (few users covering larger geographic areas) but still require feature-rich secure voice and data communications. P25IP meets the mandates for the narrowband (12.5 kHz) migration.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit's new OpenSky system will allow them to track buses via GPS and allow DART police to use the same radio system as buses, light rail and paratransit services.
VIDA Broadband provides an integrated public safety grade wireless broadband network for missioncritical applications. VIDA Broadband combines the security of the licensed 4.9 GHz public safety frequency band with the robust 802.16 industry standard to create a true public safety broadband network
“Our new OpenSky system will give us an IP-based communications VIDA network that will allow us to use features such as Computer Aided Dispatch, GPS tracking and encryption, as well as expanded radio coverage for our operations as we expand our mass transportation network including fixed route bus, light rail, commuter rail, para transit and high-occupancy vehicle lane operations.”
